52 Weeks of Wonder

"This week we're revisiting a trusty and true friend that some of you may have forgotten about: Fun Flock! This versatile accessory really lives up to its name—it's really a kick to play with! And when you know some fresh and fabulous applications for it, you'll be eager to get reacquainted with this playful friend.

For example, you can mix Fun Flock with prisma glitter for a blinged-out finish. (Just shake the two together in a bag and apply.) You can also use it traditionally, for a great puff of white. The best way to apply it in my view is by applying Liquid Glass first, then pressing the flock straight down into the adhesive (just press, don't rub).

But the technique I'm excited to share today involves tinting or dying Fun Flock. Check out my stamped flowers and leaves."

What a cool technique using our new spray pens. They're the perfect tool to create customized colors, coordinating all your paper crafting projects!

Photojojo's Camera Lens Mug

How cool is this? The ultimate gift for any camera geek. Check them out at the Photojojo store.

"Behold, our Camera Lens Mugs that look JUST LIKE your favorite lens.

Both "Canon" AND "Nikon" mug models are equipped with an easy to clean, heat preserving, stainless steel lining. Also, a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings, and an auto-focus switch that actually switches! To top it off, the "Nikon" mug zooms when you twist its grip.

Mugs that are so realistic, you might have to use post-its just to remind yourself which is for coffee and which is for taking photos. (Please note: Photojojo is not responsible for any liquid damage that may occur as a result of improper labeling)."

Dramatic lace wrap cardigan

I found this "dramatic lace wrap cardigan" on Katherine's blog and instantly knew I had to try my first sweater pattern. The detail is gorgeous and I love the three-quarter kimono-style sleeves. The skill level listed states "experienced", but I'm going to give it a try.

Katherine is currently hosting a Luxe Infinity Scarf giveaway. This beautiful cowl is knit with 3 hanks of Del Cerro yarn from Aslan Trends. One random winner will be chosen to win the Kit (3 hanks + the PDF pattern) AND 5 other randomly chosen winners will win the PDF pattern (to be delivered by email). Here's hoping I'm lucky!

Don't Cry for Me!

"Today, I feel like using tissues—and not because I'm on the verge of tears, but because we're going to create a "WOW" with tissue stamping! This easy technique has been around for years, but it's still one of my favorites because it's easy and fun to do and it creates a wonderful watercolor look you can't get anywhere else.

Often, tissue stamping is used in light, springy colors and on florals or whimsical designs. I wanted to show how versatile tissue stamping is and how well suited to just about any theme or color scheme."

Scatter Sunshine!
"There is no denying that I love the look of artwork made with our new spray pen. A little re-inker, water (and occasionally some pearl paint for glamour), and you’ll get a wonderful, spattered, scattered look that will brighten and delight any piece of artwork. Today’s color combination is also stunning, in rich Chocolate, cheery Cotton Candy, warm Crème Brulee and the promise of Sweet Leaf, and I’ll show you how to use a stamp image as a mask for your scattered sunshine. I just love it!"

Pop over to Jeanette's blog for great step-by-step instructions on how to make the gorgeous paper flower shown below. It's super easy, but packs a big punch of WOW on any project.

Believe You Are Who GOD Says You Are

Believe You Are Who God Says You Are by Buddy Owens (teaching pastor @ Saddleback Church and author of "The Way of a Worshiper")

“And we … are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

I want to help you learn to confess your faith, and then let that confession lead to life change so that it demolishes your old way of thinking and gives you a new way of thinking about life, God, yourself, hardship, your family and your world.

And here’s how to do it: Stop confessing lies. Confess your faith! Say the same thing God says about you. Let it change the way you think . . . and it will change the way you live.
Here are some things the Bible says about you that need to become things you say about yourself. Start every day by confessing these truths:

My Faith Confessions -

~ I am crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. (Galatians 2:20)
~ The Son has set me free. I am free indeed! (John 8:36)
~ My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
~ I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)
~ He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it. (Philippians 1:6)
~ There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
~ Nothing can ever separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:38-39)
~ In all things God works for the good of those who love him. (Romans 8:28)
~ God is faithful. He will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. (1 Corinthians 10:13) ~ God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
~ My light and momentary troubles are achieving for me an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (2 Corinthians 4:17)
~ He is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within me. (Ephesians 3:20)
~ God is for me! Who can be against me? (Romans 8:31)

When you say what God says (confession), you begin to think what God thinks (repentance). So let this be your confession of faith. And let it be the foundation on which you build your new life.

This is not the power of positive thinking. It’s not your good thoughts that will turn your life around. God’s power will turn your life around. He’s just asking you to believe he is who he says he is, believe you are who he says you are, and then live like you believe those things.

Does that mean bad things will stop happening? No. But it does mean you will experience many more victories than losses because the Word of God is at work in you.

Stamping flubs fixed, PART 5

"I love the look of layered cardstock and papers on a project. It can really add visual interest and depth. However, sometimes, layered papers can also pose a unique stamping challenge. Does this ever happen to you? See my stamped “love” image, which has been stamped across several layers of papers. Occasionally, the layers will cause a “gap” in the stamped image, where it breaks across each layer in paper.

I sure hope you’ve enjoyed this atypical Week of Wonder and learned some great stamping rescue techniques to turn your “WHAT!?!” into “WOW!” whenever you pick up a stamp. As seasoned stampers often say: there is no such thing as a stamping mistake, just an opportunity to embellish!"

Stamping flub fixes, PART 4

"Sometimes your stamping may not “make the cut”--literally! When you trim out a stamped image, occasionally, you’ll cut unevenly or have rough edges. What to do? Once again, it’s all about intentionality. When you turn an error into intention, your art will rebound graciously."

CTMH's Distressing Kit is a life-saver for this types of flub. Can't live without it!

Stamping flubs fixed, PART 3

"You think your stamp is lined up perfectly. Looks straight. Feels straight. Then you press down and lift off and...crooked! It happens to the best of us. How do you fix a lop-sided stamp image?"
Jeanette Lynton

Jeanette has two options for fixing the above flub. Check-out her suggestions on her blog.

52 Weeks of Wonder

Stamping flubs fixed, PART 2

"Here’s a favorite flub (if there can possibly be such a thing): You’ve inked your stamp enthusiastically and completely, and in your zeal to apply it to paper, you rock an edge of the clear block in ink and a thin line of ink shows up to mar your project."

52 Weeks of Wonder

"Although my Weeks of Wonder feature typically focuses on “WoW” artwork, let’s face it—sometimes we all create stamping artwork that is more “Whoops!” than “Wow!” And when stamping mistakes happen, what do you do? Toss out your project? Start over? Try to live with it (even though it makes you crazy)? Well, this week, I’ll be doing something a little different: I’ll be spotlighting five common stamping “whoops” and fast, fabulous fixes for each one."

Two-Color, Too Beautiful!

"This week’s artwork is stunning on many levels—first, it delivers a great wow of color in hearty Cocoa, warm Sunset, and crisp Heavenly Blue. I haven’t seen these colors together much, but I think the result is dramatic and gorgeous, and the contrast is ideal for the two-color embossing technique showcased today.
Many of you are already in love with embossing (and if you don’t already own a heat tool, invest in one—I promise you’ll use it again, and again!)."
Jeanette Lynton

Jump over to Jeanette's blog and she'll show you how to get an amazing crackle/watercolor look from embossing, which typically delivers a single-color, smooth finish.
